Teams calling feature locations
Below are where users can often find the features available during an audio call on a desktop and smartphone. Please note that locations may vary slightly depending on the device used and app versions.

Muting a Teams call

In the upper right corner of the Teams window to the left of the Leave button is a microphone icon, select it to Mute the call.

While on a Teams call there will be a small microphone icon at the bottom of the screen, select it to Mute the call.
Transferring a Teams call

Direct Transfer
- Select the Transfer icon. Two options will present: Transfer or Consult then Transfer.
- Select Transfer.
- Search for the person to transfer to, then select Transfer to connect the call directly.
- To cancel the transfer process, select cancel, then select Resume.
Transfer with Consult
Transfer with consult allows users to speak or chat with the person they wish to transfer the call to in advance of sending the call to them.
- Select the Transfer icon. Two options will present: Transfer or Consult then Transfer.
- Select Consult then transfer.
- Search for the person you wish to transfer to or enter their number directly.
- Please note that if the person you want to consult with is using Teams, your default consult choice will be chat. Select the drop down arrow to get the audio options.
- When you are done talking to the person you want to consult with, select the Transfer button to complete the transfer.

- While in the call, select Transfer at bottom of the screen.
- Select Transfer now.
- Search for the person you want to transfer the call to. Select their name transfer the call.
Transfer with Consult first
- While in the call, select Transfer at bottom of the screen.
- Select Consult first.
- Search for the person you wish to consult.
- Select their name.
- A Teams chat will open with some default language asking the person if they are available for a call. You can delete that and add any message you want.
- After the consultation, select the transfer icon and confirm to complete the transfer.
Putting a call on hold

- Select the Hold button along the menu along the top.
- Select Resume to take the call off hold.

- Select the Hold button to put the call on hold.
- Select the Resume button to take the call off hold.
Using Speed Dial
- Launch the Teams app and select the Calls icon on the left side of the app window.
- The window should display:
- Phone Dial Pad on the left
- History in the center
- Speed dial on the right
- The Speed Dial group will be at the top right by default.
- If you have contacts in your Speed Dial list, their availability will be indicated by a small icon in the lower right of their account icon:
- Green Circle: Available
- Yellow Circle: Away
- Red Circle: Do Not Disturb
- Purple Circle: Out of Office
To add a contact to your Speed Dial in the Teams app, in the Speed dial section on the right side of the Teams window and select the + icon. Type the name for any OHIO member that you want to add to your Speed dial.
Once you've added them they will appear in your Speed dial group and you can check their presence at a glance.
