Overview
On 7/28/2026 Salesforce rolled out enhanced security updates to setup a verification method, here are the instructions for creating a Passkey. This should be a one-time setup that you will use when you login to Salesforce moving forward.
Initial Setup
It varies between users, but if you are prompted to select a verification method, please select 'Passkey'. For most users, it might go straight to the Passkey setup below.
Click 'Create Passkey'
If you are prompted to choose where to save your passkey, then select 'iPhone, iPad, or Android device', again some users might bypass this and go straight to the next step.
Scan the QR Code using your mobile device
Follow the prompts on your device to setup via your device Passkey app, Google or Outlook account
Logging into Salesforce
After this is setup you may be prompted on your device when you first login to Salesforce. Unfortunately, the experience is different for each user, it may require that you enter the passcode you set up or it might require that you scan the QR code that you setup. This is based on your device and authentication method (Google, Outlook, device passkey app, etc.)
Exporting Reports
If you export reports from Salesforce, you will additionally use this passkey the first time you need to export a report daily.
