Getting Help in Canvas

Description

There are multiple ways to access help in the Canvas learning management system. Canvas representatives are available by phone or online 24-hours/7 days a week. You can also access Canvas and OHIO help resources within Canvas.

Canvas in your web browser or the Canvas Student app

Solution 

Review a short video on how to access help resources in Canvas:

Live Chat with Canvas Support (Online)

1. In the Global Navigation menu, select the Get Help icon 
2. Select Live Chat with Canvas Support (Students)
3. Complete the required fields
4. Select Start Chatting

Canvas Support Hotline (Phone)

1. In the Global Navigation menu, select the Get Help icon 
2. Dial the number listed below Canvas Support Hotline

OR

Select the Canvas Support Hotline link to call directly from your mobile device

OHIO Canvas Help Resources

1. In the Global Navigation menu, select the Get Help icon 
2. Select OHIO Canvas help resources
3. Select Canvas: Students
4. Select the topic that best addresses your question

Find Help Based on your Canvas Location

1. From anywhere in Canvas, select the Support icon (question mark) 
2. Select a listed topic/question or enter your question in the search bar 

Search Common Student Questions

1. In the Global Navigation menu, select the Get Help icon 
2. Select Search Common Student Questions
3. Under View Canvas Student Guides page, select one of the following based on your question:

• Student Guide
• Getting Started 
• Student Videos
• Canvas Student Android Guide
• Canvas Student IOS Guide
• Troubleshooting

Report a Problem

1. In the Global Navigation menu, select the Get Help icon 
2. Select Report a Canvas Problem
3. Complete the following fields

• Subject
• Description
• How is this affecting you

4. Select Submit Ticket

Submit an Idea to Improve Canvas

1. In the Global Navigation menu, select the Get Help icon 
2. Select Have an idea to improve Canvas?
3. Select View and Submit ideas 
4. Select Sign In 
5. Select Log in with Canvas 
6. Complete the required fields
7. Select Submit

Outcome: You should now be able to access live help or help resources for your question.

Get Help from Canvas

• Live chat with Canvas support (Students)
•  Get 24-hours/7-days a week Canvas support
  • Dial the Canvas Support Hotline number located under "Get Help" in the Canvas Global Navigation Menu
• Contact OIT at 740-593-1222 for questions related to logging in, manually created courses, or third-party tools (Panopto, VoiceThread, Inclusive Access, etc.)

Get Help from OIT

• Use the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) ticket form to submit a help ticket
• Enroll in the Passport to Canvas student training course
