Placing a call in Jabber

Description

***To support the Telephone Modernization Project, the University is adopting Teams Softphone as the primary phone service application for single line users.***

Jabber requires certain prefixes to be entered before typing in the phone number that you are trying to reach.

Environment

PC, Mac

Solution 

Phone number prefixes

  • Athens Campus: Last 5 digits (no prefix required)

  • Regional Campus: 10 digit number using area code (no prefix required)

  • Local Calls: 9 + 10 digit number using area code

  • Domestic Long Distance: 9 + 1 + area code + telephone number

  • International Long Distance: 9 + 011 + country code + city + number

  • Toll Free: 9 + 1 + 8xx + number

Making a call using the keyboard

  1. Go to Calls, and select the keypad icon .

  2. Use your mouse to click on the keypad to dial the number you want, and then click Call. You can use backspace to correct any dialing mistakes.

Outcome: You should now be able to place a call in Jabber.
