Description
Faculty and academic leaders may be unable to access OCEAN or may encounter an error when attempting to log in. The most common causes are:
- Using an outdated or incorrect OCEAN link (often from Google or saved bookmarks)
- Attempting to log in to the wrong OCEAN environment (Courses vs. Programs)
- An authentication redirect loop, where OCEAN repeatedly returns the user to the login page
Environment
- Web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari)
- macOS or Windows computer
- Ohio University OCEAN (Courses and Programs environments)
Solution
Follow the steps below in order. Most OCEAN access issues are resolved by one of these actions.

Check how you are accessing OCEAN
- If you searched for “OCEAN” using Google, you may be directed to an outdated or incorrect link.
- Accessing OCEAN from saved bookmarks may also lead to errors if the bookmark is no longer valid.
- Always use the official OCEAN URLs listed below.

Confirm you are using the correct OCEAN login page
OCEAN has two separate environments. Using the wrong one may prevent access.

Update bookmarks
- Delete any old OCEAN bookmarks.
- Create a new bookmark using the correct URL for:
- Courses, or
- Programs, depending on your role.
- Try a different browser or clear your browser cache
- Switch to another supported browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari), or

Clear your browser cache and try again.
- Note: Clearing your browser cache will not delete saved passwords or files.

Verify your Ohio University login
- Log in using your Ohio University username and password.
- If you are unable to log in to other OHIO systems, reset your password before retrying OCEAN.

You should now be able to successfully access the appropriate OCEAN environment needed for your teaching, course coordination, or academic program responsibilities.
