University-Owned Mac Management

Description

University-owned Macs are managed and maintained by the Office of Information Technology and/or a technician in the college to ensure that faculty and staff have up-to-date, well-maintained, and effective devices that enable them to do their jobs. 

Access

  • All University-owned Mac computers that are capable of running one of the three most recent releases of Mac OS.

Who can access

Device management is available for: 

  • Computers issued to individual OHIO faculty and staff 

  • Classroom computers and devices 

  • Department-loaned computers and devices 

  • Lab computers and devices 

  • iPads issued to individual OHIO faculty and staff 

How to request access

Features

  • Standard suite of licensed software packages, including Microsoft Office 365. 

  • Installation support for many applications. 

  • Automated operating system upgrades and application updates. 

  • Automated installation of routine security patches and updates. 

  • One-click software installs. 

  • Simplified troubleshooting steps to fix common issues. 

  • A streamlined process for setting up new computers or re-imaging existing computers. 

  • Antivirus software that scans for known system vulnerabilities

Baseline image install

  • Microsoft Office 365 

    • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive for Business, OneNote, Teams

  • Popular Internet Browsers 

  • Endpoint Security, Compliance and Vulnerability Management Software 

  • OS installed Apps such as GarageBand, iMovie, Keynote, Numbers, and Pages

User-installable applications via the Self-Service app
