Copilot Chat

Copilot Chat enables users to draft emails, create documents, or refine text, offering AI-driven suggestions and edits to enhance clarity, tone, and style for professional or personal communication tasks. 

  • Open a browser window and navigate to https://www.microsoft365.com/chat
  • Once the chat interface is open, you can type your query or request directly into the chat box to draft content, refine text, or receive tailored suggestions. 

Draft an Email with Outlook using Microsoft 365 Copilot

Users can utilize Copilot within Outlook to draft an email or get coaching feedback on email text.  

  • Open the Outlook application. 
  • Select New Email to start a new email (this feature is also available when replying and forwarding emails). 
  • From the Menu Ribbon, select Copilot. You can choose to Draft with Copilot or to get Coaching by Copilot.

  • Copilot will open a dialogue box allowing you to input information about the email you want to draft or improve. 

Utilize Copilot to Create or Summarize Text in Word

You can utilize Copilot in Word to create new text, such as drafting a document based on input prompts, or to summarize existing text for clearer and more concise communication. 

  • Open the Word application and either create a new document or open an existing one. 
  • Navigate to the Menu Ribbon and select the Copilot option. (Copilot may also embed a prompt window automatically at the top of your new document.) 
  • Input your desired action, such as “ Create text” or “Summarize text”, along with any relevant information such as tone, style, or reference material. 
  • If creating new text, input prompts or key details about the content you want to generate in the Copilot dialogue box. 
  • If summarizing, highlight the text you want Copilot to summarize and use the corresponding option to generate a concise version.

  • Review the generated content and make any necessary adjustments or edits to suit your needs. 

Create a Presentation or Summarize a PowerPoint using Microsoft 365 Copilot

You can leverage Microsoft 365 Copilot in PowerPoint to create engaging presentations by providing input prompts or summarizing existing slides for streamlined and impactful communication. 

  • Open the PowerPoint application and select Blank Presentation or open an existing template. 
  • Navigate to the Menu Ribbon and select Copilot. 
  • Use the Copilot window to select your desired option from the list provided or enter a prompt describing the topic and structure of your presentation. 
  • Copilot will generate slides based on your input, which you can review and customize further. 
  • Note: You may also notice a Copilot menu embedded in the application with a drop-down of common requests.  

 

Using Excel with Microsoft 365 Copilot

You can analyze data, improve formatting, and create visualizations in Excel with Microsoft 365 Copilot. 

  • Open the Excel application and either create a new spreadsheet or open an existing one. 
  • Locate the Copilot option in the Menu Ribbon or a prompt window embedded in the interface.

  • Select your desired task, such as "Generate Insights," "Create Visualizations," or "Automate Tasks." You can also type a custom prompt specifying the action you need. 
  • Provide relevant data or highlight the dataset you want Copilot to analyze or work with. 
  • Review the suggestions, insights, or visualizations generated by Copilot and make any adjustments as needed to align with your goals.

Organizing OneNote using Microsoft 365 Copilot

In OneNote, you can utilize Copilot to organize your notes more effectively, summarize key points, or generate structured content based on prompts, enhancing productivity and clarity in your workflows. 

  • Open the OneNote application on your device and navigate to the notebook or section you wish to work on. 
  • Locate the Copilot option in the Menu Ribbon or look for a prompt window embedded in the interface. 
  • Select the action you want Copilot to perform, such as "Summarize Notes" or "Organize Content." Alternatively, you can type a custom prompt describing the desired task. 
  • Copilot will generate suggestions, summaries, or structured content based on your input, which you can review and tailor further to suit your needs.
