Troubleshooting Spirion

If Spirion Doesn't Seem to Be Working

If sensitive data exists on your workstation, but no results are being identified, there are multiple potential causes. Reasons include:

  1. You don't have access to the sensitive data on your machine. Often, shared workstations have multiple user profiles. The sensitive data may exist in another user profile that you do not have access to scan, but the Ohio University scheduled monthly search identified it. Contact the Ohio University service desk for additional assistance if this is the case.

  2. Spirion configuration is incorrect. Try Starting a Custom Scan.

  3. The scanning engine does not have a definition to identify your file. This is considered a false negative. Future Spirion upgrades may correct this issue.

  4.  The Spirion agent needs to be reinstalled. Occasionally, software files can become corrupt, and a clean install is required.
