Digital Accessibility Review Results

As part of the Technology Review process, the Digital Accessibility team determines whether a proposed product meets requirements for digital products used in university programs and services under the ADA Title II regulations (WCAG 2.1 AA Compliance) based on vendor-provided accessibility documentation. In addition, each proposed technology is assigned an accessibility risk level (low, medium, high). In some use cases, a full review of WCAG 2.1 AA Compliance may not be required, but an accessibility risk level is still assigned. The implications of the possible compliance/non-compliance and risk levels (low, medium, high) that your review may be assigned are described below:

Low Risk

Low Risk - Compliant

The submitted product/vendor was reviewed and assigned a low digital accessibility risk rating.

The product meets WCAG 2.1 AA requirements based on vendor-provided accessibility documentation. No significant accessibility blockers were identified during review.

The accessibility documentation used for this review represents a snapshot of the current product. Please note that accessibility risk may change over time as the product evolves, and updated documentation may be appropriate in the future.

WCAG 2.1 AA is the accessibility standard required for digital products used in university programs and services under the ADA Title II regulations. Accessibility findings are based on available information at the time of review and do not represent a guarantee of accessibility.

This review is informational and does not include remediation planning.

Low Risk - Non-Compliant

The submitted product/vendor was reviewed and assigned a low digital accessibility risk rating.

Accessibility risk reflects both identified accessibility barriers and the presence (or absence) of compensating controls. A low-risk designation means that although the product does not conform to digital accessibility requirements, identified issues are minor or adequately mitigated through alternative access, support processes, or compensating controls.

WCAG 2.1 AA is the accessibility standard required for digital products used in university programs and services under the ADA Title II regulations. Products that do not conform may create access barriers for people with disabilities and increase institutional risk.

Accessibility findings are based on vendor documentation and available information at the time of review. Risk ratings are intended to support informed decision-making and do not represent a guarantee of accessibility.

This review is informational and does not include remediation planning.

Low Risk - Not Reviewed

The submitted product/vendor was identified as low accessibility risk and did not require a formal accessibility evaluation at this time.

No significant accessibility concerns were identified based on intended use and audience. WCAG 2.1 AA conformance was not evaluated.

Accessibility risk may change if the product’s scope or audience expands.

Medium Risk

Medium Risk - Reviewed

The submitted product/vendor was reviewed and does not conform to digital accessibility standards. It has been assigned a medium digital accessibility risk rating.

Accessibility risk reflects both identified accessibility barriers and the presence (or absence) of compensating controls. Medium risk means that accessibility barriers are present and may affect many users; compensating controls may not fully mitigate impact.
