Supplies and repairs
- Supplies are automatically monitored and will be delivered to departments before they run out. Additionally, the DME technician also monitors toner levels and supplies the departments as needed whenever resources are available.
- Service requests can be submitted through our standard ticketing system, which is also monitored by the on-site DME technician. Please include your DME ID number when requesting service. The DME ID is on a sticker on the front of the printer and begins with "CP," followed by five digits.
Setup

Windows
- For this example, let's assume we're trying to install OIT's printer located in Grosvenor 138. Click the start button in the lower left corner of the screen.

- In the search box, type in "\\print.ohio.edu" and press "Enter".

- This should open the list of all of the shared printers on campus. You can scroll through the list to find your printer or search for it directly.

- To search, click on the search box at the top right corner of the screen. Enter the abbreviation for your planning unit, building, or the room number. For this example, we will search "grosvenor".

- Once the list appears, find your printer and double click it.

- If you have the proper permissions, a window will appear showing that the printer is connecting and installing.

- When the installation completes, the print queue window for that printer will open.

- The printer has been successfully installed!

Mac
- Let's assume we're trying to install OIT's printer in Grosvenor 138 for this example. Open Self Service, which is typically located in the dock along the bottom of your main display.

- If Self Service is not in the dock, it can alternatively be opened by using "Spotlight Search". Press "Command + Spacebar" simultaneously to open the search bar. Type "Self Service" and "Self Service.app" should appear at the top of the results. You can press "Enter/Return" or specifically click on "Self Service.app" to open it.

- Once Self Service is open, click on the "Printers" tab on the left

- Find the printer you wish to install and click "Install". If the printer is already installed but has problems, you can also click "Reinstall" to try fixing the issue.

- The printer has been successfully installed!

Troubleshooting
- Black & White is set as the default mode. Otherwise, you could be charged for color pages, even when printing a black and white document.
- If the printer has a jam or some other error, any buttons or panels that are safe to open will be colored green. If you need to manipulate something that is not green, please reach out to the DME dedicated on-site technician by navigating to Departmental Multi-Function Devices (Print, Copy, Fax) page and click the "Report a problem with a printer" button on the right. Please include the DME ID of the printer when requesting service. The DME ID is on a sticker on the front of the printer and begins with "CP," followed by five digits.

Windows
- If you get an access denied dialog box such as shown below, or any other errors, navigate to Departmental Multi-Function Devices (Print, Copy, Fax) page and click the "Report a problem with a printer" button on the right. Please include your Ohio University e-mail and the DME ID of the printer you're trying to add. The DME ID of the printer can be found on a sticker on the front of the printer, starts with "CP", and will be followed by 5 digits.

Mac
- If the printer you are trying to add does not appear in the Printer list in Self Service, navigate to Departmental Multi-Function Devices (Print, Copy, Fax) page and click the "Report a problem with a printer" button on the right. Please include the name of your device and the DME ID of the printer you're trying to add. The name of your Mac can be found by clicking on the Apple icon on the top left of your main display, clicking "About this Mac" to open a new window, clicking "More Info..." to open a final new window, and the name of your device will be one of the first entries. The DME ID of the printer can be found on a sticker on the front of the printer, starts with "CP", and will be followed by 5 digits.
Request training
- For new devices, OIT will reach out to coordinate staff and end-user training. There will also be a training session at the time each new device is delivered.
- To request training on an existing devices, please visit the Departmental Multi-Function Devices (Print, Copy, Fax) page to create a ticket for training.
Billing questions
- To report a billing error, change your account number, or inquire about a specific charge, please send an email to contractbilling@dme.us.com.
