Installing the AirMedia app on Mac OS

Description

How to install the appropriate AirMedia app on Mac OS in an AirMedia-equipped classroom projector or flat-panel display

Environment

Mac OS, AirMedia-equipped classroom projector or flat-panel display

Install AirMedia 

To connect to an AirMedia-equipped classroom projector or flat-panel display, you will need to install the appropriate Mac OS app. 

Identify Mac OS Version

Before you begin with the AirMedia, verify which version of Mac OS you are running.  

  1. Go to your Apple Menu and choose About This Mac.  Thumbnail 
  2. Make a note of your Mac OS version number. Thumbnail 

Version 11.X and newer 

  1. Enter the IP address from the AirMedia display in the room into your internet browser. If you wish to install the app ahead of time, you can Download the AirMedia app (4.1.14).

  2. Download the Client for Mac. 

  3. Open and run the app. Follow the prompts to install the app into the Applications folder. 

    Steps 1-3 above only need to be done once to install the app onto the laptop.  Once the app is installed, the steps below will need to be taken each time to begin screen mirroring. 

  4. Open the AirMedia app from the Applications folder or the launchpad and enter the IP address of the display located in the bottom left corner. Then press the arrow.   

  5. Enter the code. 

  6. Click the icon in the Menubar and click “Screen Mirroring”.

  7. Choose the device from the menu. 

  8. Enter the code again. 

Mac OS X 10.13-10.15 High Sierra/Mojave/Catalina: 

  1. Enter the IP address from the AirMedia display in the room into your internet browser. If you wish to install the app ahead of time, you can Download the AirMedia app (4.1.4).

  2. Download the Client for Mac 

  3. Open and run the app. Follow the prompts to install the app into the Applications folder. 
    Steps 1-3 above only need to be done once to install the app onto the laptop.  Once the app is installed, the remaining steps will need to be taken each time to begin screen mirroring. 

  4. Open the AirMedia app from the Applications folder or the launchpad and enter the IP address of the display located in the bottom left corner. Then press the arrow.   

  5. Enter the code. 

  6. Click the AirPlay button in the system bar at the top of your screen, and select the IP address of the room’s AirMedia connection. AirMedia Mirroring Mac Old Version 

  7. When finished, you can click on the AirPlay menu button in the system bar again and “Turn AirPlay Off” to stop sharing your screen. 

  8. For older versions of Mac OS If you want sound,  SoundFlower is required to be installed as well. 

Version 10.11 

  1. Enter the IP address from the AirMedia display in the room into your internet browser. If you wish to install the app ahead of time, you can Download the AirMedia video app

  2. Download the Client for Mac. 

  3. Open and run the app. Follow the prompts to install the app into the Applications folder. 

    Steps 1-3 above only need to be done once to install the app onto the laptop.  Once the app is installed, the steps below will need to be taken each time to begin screen mirroring. 

  4. Open the AirMedia app from the Applications folder or the launchpad and enter the IP address of the display located in the bottom left corner. If the app tells you that Soundflower is not installed, see "Enabling Sound" below.Then press the arrow.   

  5. Enter the code. 

  6. Click the AirPlay button in the system bar at the top of your screen, and select the IP address of the room’s AirMedia connection. AirMedia Mirroring Mac Old Version 

  7. Enter the code on the display in the room. Once you hit “OK,” you should connect. 

  8. When finished, you can click on the AirPlay menu button in the system bar again and “Turn AirPlay Off” to stop sharing your screen. Crestron Airmedia Projector Start Screen 

 

Outcome: You should now be able to install the Air Media app and use the app to connect to a classroom projector or flat panel display.
