Create a Turnitin Assignment in Blackboard Original (Instructors)

Description

All Blackboard Original Turnitin assignments created prior to May 4 are available in a view-only format until July 30 to allow instructors ample time for the rebuilding of Turnitin assignments after the May upgrade. After July 30, all Blackboard Original Turnitin assignments created prior to May 4 will be inaccessible. 

If you prefer not to rebuild Turnitin assignments, you may also switch to using Blackboard Assignment and Peer Assessment features. Please contact the IT Service Desk if you have any additional concerns or questions.

Solution 

Do you need to gather information from your old Blackboard Original Turnitin Assignment first? 

  1. Navigate to the old assignment within your Blackboard Original course.

  2. Use the drop-down menu beside the assignment name to select Edit.

  3. On the next screen, take a screen shot or otherwise capture the relevant information for this assignment, so that it may be recreated.

Note: Use the breadcrumbs or left menu to navigate back to the appropriate content area.

Build a New Blackboard Original Turnitin Assignment 

  1. To create a new Blackboard Original Turnitin assignment, navigate to the content area within your Blackboard Original course where you would like the assignment to appear.

  2. Select Build Content and select Turnitin from the menu options.

  3. Enter the relevant options on the setup page and click Submit to save. 

Delete Old Blackboard Original Turnitin Assignments 

It is critical that you do not have Turnitin Assignments from the old integration in your Blackboard Original course when you open it to students. Having both old and new Turnitin Assignments can cause confusion for the students, and it can also cause your new assignments to not function properly. As such, you must delete any old Blackboard Original Turnitin Assignments before your course is made available.

  1. To delete an old assignment in Blackboard Original, navigate to the appropriate content area in your Blackboard original course.

  2. Use the drop down menu next to the assignment name and select Delete. Note: A message will appear for you to confirm you want to delete the assignment. 

Outcome: You should now be able to assign Turnitin Assignments to students in Blackboard Original.
