Using Microsoft Planner within Teams

Microsoft Planner is a lightweight project management tool best suited for small projects and task lists. Microsoft Planner is available to all OHIO faculty, staff, and students that are a part of a Team (or channel) within Microsoft Teams.

Overview of Microsoft Planner

Microsoft Planner is a lightweight project management tool that can be used in tandem with Microsoft Teams. It provides a simple, visual way to organize team and project work. With Microsoft Planner, you can:

  • Create project plans

  • Assign tasks

  • Chat about tasks

  • Share files

  • View charts of your team or project progress

Getting started

To access Microsoft Planner, you can either:

  • Visit tasks.office.com and sign in with your OHIO ID and password, or

  • Access it via your Catmail

    2. Select All apps

    3. Select Planner

Using Planner in Microsoft Teams

While using Microsoft Teams, you can organize your tasks by adding one or more Planner tabs to a team channel. You can then work on your plan from within Teams or in Planner for web, remove or delete your plan, and get notified in Teams when a task is assigned to you in Planner.
