How to configure Windows 11 using an 802.11ax Wi-Fi card

Description

Devices using the 802.11ax Wi-Fi card could be slow or non-responsive. Not all devices utilize this Wi-Fi card.  

Environment

Windows 11

Solution

  1. Go to the start menu and type in Network Connections.
    1. Select View Network Connections Control Panel to open the Network Connections dialog box.
    2. Select the appropriate Wi-Fi network card from the open dialog box.
    3. A Wi-Fi Status dialog box will open.

Navigate to the Network Connections on your Device

  1. Select Properties.
    1. A Wi-Fi Properties dialog box will open.
    2. Select Configure.
    3. A new dialog box will open, the name and properties of your device's Wi-Fi card will display at the top.
  2. Select the Advanced tab.
    1. Under property select 802.11ax/ac/n/abg.
    2. Under value un-select 802.111ax and then choose either 802.11ac/n/ or 802.11a/b/g.

Select new properties

  1. Select OK.
