Description

The SPSS Software is designed to assist in statistical analysis for projects of all sizes and complexities. Its ease of use, flexibility and scalability make SPSS accessible to users of all skill levels.

Access

How to install

*SPSS 28 has a known log4j vulnerability. Please run this patch after you install SPSS to fix the vulnerability.

Windows

• OIT-managed devices: Follow the directions for how to install software on OHIO Windows computers and search for SPSS

  • If your PC does not have the Software Manager application, contact your departmental IT technician or the IT Service Desk  to enroll in our PC Management service.

Mac

• OIT-managed devices: Follow the directions for how to install software on OHIO Mac computers and search for SPSS

  • If your Mac does not have the Self Service application, contact your departmental IT technician or the IT Service Desk to enroll in our Mac Management service.

Unmanaged Macs

If your Mac does not have the Self Service application, follow these steps:

1. Download SPSS_29.0.2 - OHIO (DMG).

• Your OHIO faculty/staff login is required.

2. Install SPSS Statistics

• Double-click SPSSSC_29.0.2_Mac.pkg to begin the installation.
• Once installation is complete, click Close.

3. Connect to Campus VPN

• You must be connected to the Ohio University VPN before using SPSS or running the License Authorization Wizard.

4. Configure the License Server

• Launch SPSS Statistics.
• Click Launch License Wizard when prompted.
• Select the Concurrent user license and click Next.
• Enter the following server name: license.ohio.edu
• Click Next, then Finish.
• When prompted, click Restart to apply the license.

5. Java Requirement (if applicable)

• If you receive an error stating that Java must be installed before SPSS can run, download the compatible version of Java. After installing Java, rerun the SPSS installer.

Remote Computer Labs Access

You can access SPSS during remote learning using a virtual desktop. Review the instructions for connecting remotely.

Who can access

• OHIO users of university-owned machines, including computer labs
