  3. On the Panopto Content page, click the Create button, located to the right of the search field.

  4. Choose the first option in the drop-down menu, Record in Application

  5. From the pop-up window, choose from the Download Installer list to download the appropriate app to your computer.

  • How to use tags - Add tags to videos as a way to help users browse and explore specific content on a Panopto site.

  • How to enable smart chapters - Smart Chapters are not automatically added on your videos, but there is an option to enable them on a per-video basis.

  • How to use smart chapters - Add, remove, and edit smart chapters from your Panopto videos to create an automatic table of contents.

Sharing a Panopto recording, assignment, or quiz

Sharing inside Blackboard (instructors only)

  • Note: When viewing a Panopto recording with embedded quiz, it is necessary to watch the entire video from start to finish. To ensure the grade transfers back to the Blackboard Grade Center, do NOT skip ahead or jump to the quiz questions.

Sharing outside of Blackboard (anyone with Creator access)

Managing discussion notifications

How to use discussion notifications - Receive daily email notification if any comments were added to your videos or replies were made to your comments.

Restoring archived Panopto content

  • How to restore archived content - recordings that have not been viewed in 24 months will be automatically archived. The archive process keeps videos organized with the most recent content readily accessible, while preserving older content in a less conspicuous location.

    • Note: Any user with Viewer access may restore an archived video.  Restoration can take up to 48 hours.
